Texas VetHUB

Vanbreed Consulting Group is a Texas VetHUB-certified technology company providing software development, artificial intelligence, data engineering, systems integration, cybersecurity, and technology consulting services to Texas government agencies and prime contractors.

Vanbreed Consulting Group participates in Texas' Veteran Heroes United in Business (VetHUB) program, the state's contracting program for qualifying service-disabled-veteran-owned small businesses.

Administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, VetHUB is designed to increase the participation of service-disabled veteran businesses in Texas state contracts and subcontracts.

What VetHUB Means

To qualify for VetHUB certification, a business must be at least 51% owned, managed, and operated by one or more Texas-resident service-disabled veterans with a disability rating of at least 20%. The business must also be primarily based in Texas and meet applicable small-business size standards.

Certification places qualifying companies in the state's VetHUB Directory, which is used by Texas agencies and prime contractors to identify veteran-owned businesses capable of performing state work.

Prime and Subcontracting Opportunities

VetHUB can create opportunities in two ways:

Direct state contracting. State agencies can identify and solicit certified VetHUB companies for goods and professional services through the state's procurement system.

Subcontracting with prime contractors. For procurements of $100,000 or more where subcontracting opportunities are considered probable, agencies may require bidders to submit a VetHUB subcontracting plan. Under the current rules, a prime contractor using the good-faith-effort process generally must notify at least two qualified VetHUB companies for each identified subcontracting opportunity.

This makes VetHUB particularly relevant to VCG's strategy of developing relationships with established state contractors that need capable technology and professional-services partners.

Mentor-Protégé Program

Texas also operates a VetHUB Mentor-Protégé Program connecting certified VetHUB companies with experienced prime contractors.

The program is intended to help VetHUB firms develop their capabilities, relationships, and understanding of state procurement. An established mentor can provide professional and operational guidance while developing a trusted subcontracting partner for future Texas opportunities.

State agencies sponsor these mentor-protégé relationships, making agency relationships an important part of developing a successful partnership.

How VCG Approaches VetHUB

For VCG, VetHUB is not simply a certification. It is another route into the Texas public-sector market.

Our strategy focuses on:

  • Pursuing technology and professional-services opportunities that align directly with VCG's capabilities.
  • Building relationships with established Texas prime contractors seeking qualified VetHUB subcontractors.
  • Exploring mentor-protégé relationships where there is a genuine strategic and technical fit.
  • Monitoring state solicitations for subcontracting opportunities in software development, data, AI, systems integration, and related technology services.
  • Competing as a prime contractor when the scope and requirements align with VCG's experience and capacity.

VetHUB complements VCG's broader public-sector strategy by providing another pathway for agencies and established contractors to engage a service-disabled-veteran-owned technology company.
